LMU Law Review Presents
A Changing Profession in a Changing World: Discussions on Artificial Intelligence and Climate Change in the Law
Artificial Intelligence and the Law
This panel will examine what exactly artificial intelligence is, what artificial intelligence tools are available to attorneys, how they can be used, and, most importantly, if they should be used. This panel will provide practical guidance for legal professionals interested in using these technologies, and will also examine ethical considerations surrounding its use, the importance of training lawyers to use these tools, and how these tools can be answers to issues that have long plagued the legal field, like increasing access to justice.
Climate Change and the Law
This panel hopes to examine what laws exist regarding climate change, whether environmental change is solely relegated to the legislature, and whether the judiciary can get involved. This panel will examine how lawyers should understand climate change legislation like the Inflation Reduction Act, how the law can be used as a tool of structural change and how lawyers can support efforts to fight climate change on the local, regional, national, and global levels, and how the law can build on climate cases from around the globe to protect the interests of at-risk future generations.
