The Katy Koontz Scholarship was established in memory of a beloved communicator, creative, leader, mentor, teacher and friend. As founder of the Gaylord College Media practicum, Katy’s life, passion and legacy lives on through this dynamic student organization and her scholarship. Katy’s connection to the OU and Gaylord College community ran deep. As an alumna, employee and professor at the University, her sense of community and care was contagious. Through her skillful work and generous character, she left her mark on OU. Katy’s story lives on through all those who knew her and were changed by her, for the better. The practicum and this scholarship are a testament to the remarkable person she was and for which she will forever be remembered.
