Dr. Freddie H. Fu (MED ’77, ’82), recognized worldwide for his innovative research and teaching in sports medicine, was the long-time Chair of the School of Medicine’s Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh. Much of his prolific research and practice focused on anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction, clinical outcomes and bioengineering of sports-related problems. Dr. Fu joined the Pitt School of Medicine faculty in 1982, and later became the University’s eighth Distinguished Service Professor.
Dr. Fu improved the lives of countless health sciences students, alumni, trainees, patients and friends during his long and storied career. Now, we want to honor his achievements and leadership through the Fu Family Legacy Fund.
The fund will be used at the discretion of the chair of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery to support excellence in the department, including its programs and people.
You can make a gift online to the newly created Fu Family Legacy Fund through the form below or by contacting Kraig Smith at kraigsmith@pitt.edu. We appreciate your continued support and look forward to sharing news about the success of this effort.
