The Salud Center: Nourishing Our Community with Compassion

The Salud Center proudly serves the Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) family and the residents of San Antonio’s historic West Side. Guided by OLLU’s mission of service and social justice, the center is a place of care, connection, and compassion—where community members can find the support they need during challenging times.

At the heart of the Salud Center’s work is its food distribution program, providing consistent access to nutritious groceries for students, staff, and West Side neighbors facing food insecurity. To ensure no one goes hungry between distribution days, the center also offers a “Grab and Go” option with beverages and snacks for those who need something quick and sustaining.

More than a food pantry, the Salud Center is a lifeline. Staff and social work interns connect clients with resources for housing, healthcare, financial assistance, childcare, employment, and other vital services—always with compassion and a focus on stability and hope.

As the Salud Center grows, a community needs assessment will help identify additional services and partnerships to better serve our neighbors. Every bag of food, every smile, and every act of kindness is made possible through the generosity of people like you.

Your donation—no matter the size—helps feed families, support students, and build a stronger, healthier West Side community. Together, we can make sure no neighbor goes hungry. Donate today to sustain the mission and spirit of the Salud Center.
